Fishlert is operated by Alga Ventures LLC.

Fishlert provides an AI-powered inventory management and communication platform for seafood distributors to manage inventory, send SMS alerts to their buyers, track reservations, and automate buyer communications.

Information We Collect

Distributor Information

• Account details: Company name, contact name, email, phone number
• Inventory data: Fish species, quantities, sources, locations, pricing information
• Buyer lists: Buyer contact names, company names, phone numbers, email addresses (when provided)
• Business preferences: Communication tone, pricing preferences, custom AI instructions

Important: Distributors are solely responsible for obtaining proper consent from their buyers before adding them to Fishlert and ensuring compliance with applicable SMS marketing laws (TCPA, etc.).

Communication Data

• All SMS messages sent and received through the platform
• Chat conversations with the AI assistant
• Conversation history used for context-aware responses
• Message timestamps, delivery status, and engagement metrics

How We Use Your Data

Core Platform Services

• Inventory Management: Store and track your fish inventory, reservations, and sales
• SMS Communication: Send automated alerts to your buyers via Twilio
• AI Assistant: Process your natural language commands to manage inventory and buyers
• Conversation Context: Use full conversation history to understand buyer replies and provide intelligent responses

AI Learning & Improvement

• Personalized AI: Learn from your corrections to adapt to your specific vocabulary and business practices
• Pattern Recognition: Store correction patterns to improve AI accuracy over time
• Global & Distributor-Specific Learning: Some patterns are shared across all users (global), while others are unique to your account (distributor-specific)
• Message Parsing: Analyze SMS content to automatically create reservations and understand buyer intent

Third-Party AI Processing

Fishlert uses OpenAI (GPT-4o-mini) and Anthropic (Claude) APIs to power the AI assistant. When you interact with the chatbox or when buyers send SMS replies:

• Your messages and conversation history are sent to OpenAI/Anthropic for processing
• These providers may use your data according to their own privacy policies
• We do not control how OpenAI or Anthropic use data sent to their APIs

Data Storage & Security

• Database: All data is stored securely in Supabase (PostgreSQL) with encryption at rest
• Row Level Security (RLS): Your data is isolated from other distributors - you can only access your own buyers, inventory, and messages
• SMS Provider: Messages are sent via Twilio, which maintains its own logs according to their privacy policy
• Backups: Regular automated backups ensure data recovery in case of system failure
• Access Controls: Only authorized personnel can access production data, and only for support/debugging purposes

Data Retention

• Active Accounts: We retain all data while your account is active
• Chat History: Conversation history is retained indefinitely to provide context-aware responses (configurable limit in preferences)
• SMS Logs: All inbound and outbound SMS messages are logged for audit and compliance purposes
• AI Learning Data: Correction patterns and learned patterns are retained to continuously improve the AI
• Account Deletion: Upon account deletion, we will delete or anonymize your data within 30 days, except where required by law

Data Sharing & Third Parties

• We DO NOT sell your data to advertisers, marketers, or any third parties
• Service Providers: We share data only with essential service providers:
  • Supabase (database hosting & authentication)
  • Twilio (SMS delivery)
  • OpenAI & Anthropic (AI processing)
  • Vercel (hosting & CDN)
• Legal Compliance: We may disclose data if required by law, subpoena, or to protect our legal rights
• Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred to the new entity

Your Rights

Depending on your location (e.g., GDPR in EU, CCPA in California), you may have the following rights:

• Access: Request a copy of all data we hold about you
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data

• Opt-Out: Buyers can reply STOP to any SMS to opt out of future messages
• Object to Processing: Object to certain data processing activities (e.g., AI learning from your data)

SMS & TCPA Compliance

• Distributor Responsibility: Distributors must obtain express written consent from buyers before adding them to Fishlert
• Opt-Out: All SMS messages include instructions to reply STOP to opt out
• Dedicated Phone Numbers: Each distributor uses their own Twilio phone number (not a shared platform number)
• Message Frequency: Buyers receive messages only when distributors send Fishlerts or respond to inquiries
• Standard Messaging Rates: Message and data rates may apply (charged by buyer's carrier, not Fishlert)

Cookies & Analytics

Fishlert uses minimal cookies and analytics:

• Authentication Cookies: Required to keep you logged in (Supabase Auth)
• Session Cookies: Store temporary data during your session
• No Third-Party Analytics: We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar tracking tools
• Internal Analytics: We track tool usage and message statistics to improve the platform

Children's Privacy

Fishlert is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through the platform. Continued use of Fishlert after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
